Notes: | Azariah J. Boatwright served during the Civil War in Co K 13th Reg SC Volunteers. He was captured twice, but returned to service after his first release. He was wounded at Gettysburg and lived with the bullet in his body for the rest of his life. He was short of stature, had particularly short legs. He was a planter of cotton, corn, and indigo in the early years, shifting production to peaches, asparagus, and poultry in later years (from notes by Emily Cato Wilson to Emmie Cato Pinson). |
