A.F. Young Dead Near Kershaw Home
A.F. Young, highly respected citizen of Kershaw county, died at his home in the Oakridge section late Friday afternoon, February 6, after seventy-six years, and was buried in the cemetery at Shiloh Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following funeral services conducted at the church by his pastor, Rev. J. F. Hoffmeyer.
Mr. Young, who was an active Christian worker, was a consistent member of Damascus Methodist church for many years. He was engaged in farming all his life and was a kind neighbor and friend, who enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew him.
He is survived by the following children: Willis F., Angelus; Alex, Bethune; A.B., Fredericksburg, Va.; T.H., W.C., J.J. and Clarence Young, of near Kershaw; Mrs. D. B. Love, Kershaw; Mrs. Ella Hammond, Bethune; Mrs. Earl Bullock, Royersford, Pa; and Mrs. C. A. Love, Columbia.
The following brothers and sisters, L.L. and L.G. Young, Mrs. Sallie Barfield, Hartsville; Mrs. Kate Barfield and Mrs. Mary Gay, of near Kershaw; forty-four grandchildren and two great grandchilsdren also survive him. Ernest Love, William Young, Frank Hammond, T.H. Young, Jr., David Young and Lawrence Richardson, grandsons of Mr. Young, were the pallbearers. --- Kershaw Era.
