Notes:	Thomas W. Radcliffe, Jr. was the second son of Rebecca and Thomas W. Radcliff. He was a brother of Charlie Radcliffe who was a beau of Maria Louisa "Lula" G. Feaster in ante-bellum Columbia, South Carolina. Thomas W. Radcliffe Jr. served in Company B, 4th South Carolina Cavalry Battalion, and died during his service to the Confederacy in Virginia during the Civil War. He was remembered in two notices of his death: Source: Holcomb, Brent Howard. Record of Deaths in Columbia and other places as recorded by John Glass, 1859-1877. Columbia, S.C.: SCMAR, 1986. Found in ancestry.com database: Columbia, South Carolina Obituaries, 1859-77 / [Record of Deaths in Columbia South Carolina - p.56] Robert Powers Bryce, Charles J. Flynn, and Thomas W. Radcliffe of the Town of Col'a So. Ca. were severally killed in battle, fighting manfully with the Yankee mercenaries. The two former at the Battle of Chattamauga [sic] in Georgia and the latter in Virginia, These were promising and worthy young men, whose fathers now reside in Columbia, and to them particularly, the loss is severe and afflictive. But they have [page 129] a proud consolation in the fact, that their sons fell, with their faces to the foe, whilst contending for their rights, their liberties and their homes. / [Record of Deaths in Columbia South Carolina - pages 57-58] T. W. Radcliff Jun'r, son of T. W. Radcliffe of Col'a So. Ca. was buried in Col'a, March 6, 1864. He was killed in [p.58] Virginia fighting the battles of his country. He was a young patriot of whom his family was proud, and fell in battle, nobly contest for the rights of the South.
