SPRINGFIELD - Emmie Wolling Cato Young Pinson, former long-time
resident of Phenix City, Alabama, age 81, died on Tuesday, July 13,
2010, in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST Saturday, July 17,
2010, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, Alabama, with Pastor
Robert Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory
Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 1:00
p.m. EST.

She was born August 25, 1928, in Aiken County, South Carolina,
daughter of William Leon and Meynel Clowney Cato. She married Howard
Young and later James Benjamin Pinson, both whom preceded her in
death.

Mrs. Pinson was a retired bookkeeper working many years in Columbus,
Georgia. She attended the University of South Carolina, the University
of Georgia, Columbus College (now Columbus State University), and
Draughn's Business College. She was a past member of First Christian
Church, Phenix City, Alabama; First Christian Church, Benton,
Illinois; and a current member of Woodside United Methodist Church,
Springfield. Mrs. Pinson volunteered for about six years at the
Sangamon County Democratic Party Headquarters in Springfield. She was
a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters
of the Confederacy, Order of the Eastern Star 425, and American Legion
Auxiliary 2910.

Survivors include a son, James Leon Young Pinson (wife, Chantal) of
Tallahassee, Florida; two daughters, Cynthia Pinson Weaver (husband,
Jeff) of Phenix City, Alabama and Lynda Pinson Maddox (husband,
Nathan) of Springfield; four grandchildren, Philip Maddox, Daniel
Maddox, Melissa Weaver Clark (husband, Ryan), and David F. Weaver
(wife, Robyn); two great-grandchildren, Katy Clark and John Henry
Clark; one step grandchild; and one step great-grandchild.
