Notes: | From newspaper obituary: James Benjamin Pinson Benton James Benjamin (Jim) Pinson, 62 of Lake Benton, formerly of Phenix CIty, Ala, died at his home at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 1996. Graveside Services, with Masonic Rites, will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City. Funeral services will be helad at 7:30 this evening at the Morton & Johnson Funeral Home, Benton with the Rev. Dale Carson officating. Masonic Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may call from 6 till time of services this evening at the funeral home. Mr. Pinson was born on March 4, 1934 in Belle Ellen. Ala, the son of Benjamin O. and Celia Hyde Pinson. He was married to Emmie (Cato) Pinson. She survives. He was a licensed real estate broker and previously worked for 14 years with Sherwin Williams in Alabama and Georga. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving as Staff Sgt. from 1953 until 1957. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Benton; a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois; Eastern Star, Franklin County Shrine Club, Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, Knights Templar of Phenix City, Ala., Royal Arch Masons of Alabama; B.P.O.E. of Benton; and American Legion of Illinois. Survivors include his wife Emmie; two daughters, Linda Pinson Maddox of Springfield, Cynthia Pinson Weaver of Phenix CIty, one son, James Leon Pinson of Tallahassee, Florida; three Grandsons, one granddaughter; one stepgranddaughter and one stepgreat-grandson; two sisters, Ola Pinson Dalby of Benton, Betty Pinson Hutchens of Benton; one brother, Johnson Oliver Pinson of San Antonio, Tex. Mr. Pinson was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Robert E. Pinson. For those who wish, Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Benton, or the American Cancer Society, and will be accepted at the funeral home any time. |
