1 | Title: Obituary of Minnie Crouch Young Text: Minnie Perry Crouch Young CAMDEN - A memorial service for Minnie Perry Crouch Young, 86, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Young, wife of the late Howard Young, died Monday, March 17, 2008. Born in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Edith Lee Watson Crouch. She graduated from Saluda High School in 1939. Mrs. Young retired after twenty five years as an accountant with Guimarin. She was very creative and was a fine cook. She owned and operated, with her husband, "The Magnolias of Columbia" where she catered and married 500 couples. She showed and rode horses for decades. She rode weekly until health issues forced her to give up riding in her eighties. Mrs. Young was a Sunday School teacher at both Trinity Lutheran Church and Living Springs Lutheran Church for 20 years. She was a member of the Old Codgers Club (retired engineers and architects) for whom she hosted many group meetings. Mrs. Young also volunteered at Kershaw County Medical Center. Surviving are a niece and her husband, Patricia and Jerry Alexander of Columbia; nephews, Sam Givens, and his partner, David Hardee, John Clayton and his wife, Lexie, Frank Clayton, Richard Clayton and his wife, Marnie, all of Columbia; a stepson and his wife, Jim and Chantal Young of Tallahassee, Fla.; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rosalyn Stevenson. The family would like to thank Kershaw County Medical Center's staff and volunteers for their caring compassion and support and they are indebted to her special friend, Lisa Casey and her family for their continued love and friendship.
