Notes: | May be a patriot. There is considerable debate about individuals named Edward Moberley/Mobley living in South Carolina in the latter half of the 1700's. This individual gave 90 days of service between 1781 and 1782 (have a copy of Accounts ...for Rev. War Service). He was accepted, then rejected, by the DAR. Early research on this individual appeared in: "The Mobleys and their Connections" by Willaim Woodward Dixon pp13-15, but that has been superseded by additional documentation in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. See a review of the controversy at: http://www.kinnexions.com/smlawson/moberly.htm#EMoberly. See message posted by Anne B. Willis on Genealogy.com> Mobley Forum > 26 Nov 2000 for additional details. |
