Notes in the photo album of his cousin Maria Louisa "Lula" G. Feaster indicate Bennie Rawls was father of Dr. Reginald Rawls, an internationally known obstetrician who was a staff member of Women's Hospital, New York, New York. Bennie's frequent and much appreciated visits to the family in Feasterville were recorded by his aunt Margaret Narcissa Feaster in her Civil War era diary. Bennie Rawls and Lula Feaster spent the early years of their childhood living together in the downtown Columbia home of their grandfather Benjamin F. Rawls.

Benjamin A. Rawls served in the 3rd Regiment SC Reserves during the Civil War. He was also listed on the roster of 4th Classmen Cadets of The Arsenal, Columbia, South Carolina, during which time he was captured and paroled near Greenville in April 1865. He was a businessman in Columbia, SC, where he became an alderman, and in New York.
