Notes: | Have photos (from Lula Feaster photo album) of Bessie Wolling as a baby and as young lady; a portrait by Rawls Studios of Columbia at about 25; also a photo of her son Bill Fletcher, papers of son Lewis A. Fletcher; and photo with a Mrs. Dickenson. Bessie Wolling Fletcher's mother, Maria Louisa "Lula" Georgiana Feaster Wolling, went to visit Bessie in North Carolina in 1931. Lula died while visiting Bessie, according to notes hand-written by Lula's grand-daughter (Bessie's niece), Cleora Clowney Hall. This may explain why no death certificate appears for Lula in South Carolina. The Fletchers apparently moved to Georgia before 1918 (when first child, Lewis, was born), perhaps for Joshua P. Fletcher's job as a railroad engineer. They lived in Savannah, Georgia in 1930, but later returned to Marlboro Co., South Carolina, where they are buried. |
