Notes: | According to family lore, the three Catoe brothers, Benjamin, Aaron, and Thomas settled in Orangeburg County, came from North Carolina. Meynel C. Cato's notes mention that no one knows when the Cato family came to the States, or from what country, but Ireland is a strong suspect. Census of 1850 in Edgefield county lists Benjamin Catoe's wife as Mary Ann,born in1795 and believed to be second wife, the first wife being Susanna Brown. |
