Notes: | There is a photo of Maria Ledbetter as a young lady in the Civil War era photo album of Maria Louisa "Lula" Feaster. Maria Ledbetter's father, Col. Daniel A. Ledbetter of Oconee Co., South Carolina, died of wounds at 2nd Manassas, 31 Aug 1862. The Roster of the Orr's Rifles ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~scwbts/orrsroster.html) shows that he was promoted to Lt. Col. in January 1862; was wounded August 29, 1862; and promoted to Coronel on the field. In 1870 Maria Ledbetter lived with the family of Col. Newton Brown, brother to Emma Brown Feaster whose daughter Emma Feaster (half-sister of "Lula" Feaster) was also orphaned by the Civil War and lived with Col. Brown. This connection probably explains why Lula Feaster had a photo of Maria Ledbetter in her album. |
