Landy G. Young, 76 year-old citizen of the Flat Rock community, died at his home Thursday morning of last week, after a short illness, and his funeral was held the same afternoon at Damascus Methodist church near Westville with Rev. Mr. Tucker, the pastor officiating. The pallbearers serving were grandsons of the deceased--E.C. Rush, Craig Rush, Lloyd Rush, J.D. Gillis, Jr., E.D. Huckabee and Geinway (should read Sinway *) Young. The flower girls were: Rebecca Rush, Marjorie Rush, Mary Alice Young, Myrtle Huckabee, Fae Russell and Bernice Hendrix.
Mr.Young was a son of the late William and Angeline Young and had made his home in that section all of his life. He was a highly respected farmer of his section and leaves a large family connection.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Alice Young, and the following sons and daughters: W.T. Young, Chalmers Young and Mrs. David Gillis of Boykin; Henry Young of Cayce; S. Coker Young, Otis Young, Mrs. T. B. Clyburn of Westville; Mrs. L. G. Huckabee, Mrs. J. B. Rush of Camden. There are three sisters surviving, Mrs. Thomas Gay and Mrs. Pinckney Barfield of Westville, and Mrs. Sidney Barfield of Hartsville.
There are also twenty-four grandchildren and two great grand children surviving.
