Notes: Nathan O. Farmer is included to honor his memory, and to provide a possible link to a picture of an elegant young lady labeled "Miss Earl" in the Civil War era photo album of Lula Feaster.

Nathan O. Farmer married Georgia Ann (Georgiana) Earle. We hope that living descendants of the Farmer-Earle union may be able to confirm whether Georgia is the young lady pictured in the album.

Also pictured in the album were Nathan Farmer's brother Gaddis Farmer, his brother-in-law Milton Brown, and another individual (perhaps Nathan or a sibling?) labeled "Farmer".

The Farmer connection to the Feaster family likely occured following the marriage of Emma Brown to Nathan Andrew Feaster and subsequent social and mercantile connections among the extended families during the Civil War period.

Nathan O. Farmer advanced from Private to Lieutenant in the Confederate Infantry, Hampton Legion (led by Wade Hampton III), Company D, according to Civil War records M381, roll 10.

By 1880, Nathan O. Farmer was living in Fork Twp., Anderson Co., South Carolina, with his wife Georgia A., two children (Albert S. Farmer and James H. Farmer), a cousin Annie Kilgore, and a laborer Sam Rosmond. By 1900 son Albert had left the home, and a "cousin-in-law" Rufus D. Earle from Arkansas was living with Nathan, Georgia, and son James H. Farmer.

We thank Becky Bonner (bbbonner@cox.net) for the excellent Harrison Genealogy Repository online, which provided the link between the Farmer and Earle families and extensive family history:
