Notes: Gaddis W. Farmer was pictured in a carte-de-visite in the Civil War era photo album of Lula Feaster.

Also pictured were his brother-in-law Milton Brown, another individual (perhaps a sibling of Gaddis?) labeled "Farmer", and a "Miss Earl" who might be Georgia Earle who married his brother Nathan, or perhaps another member of the prominent Earle family.

The Farmer connection to the Feaster family likely occured following the marriage of Emma Brown to Nathan Andrew Feaster and subsequent social and mercantile connections among the extended families during the Civil War period.

By 1880, Gaddis Farmer had started a family with his wife Elizabeth (Moseley) and was living in Fork Twp., Anderson Co., South Carolina, with three children: James E. Farmer, Emma V. Farmer, and a baby daughter.

Gaddis Farmer shared his unusual given name with one of his maternal uncles, Gaddis Micajah Berry.
Research on the Farmer and Berry families was formerly available online in the "Descendants of Manly Berry" webpage (not directly available in 2005). Another researcher, Richard Wilson (mearen@yahoo.com) has shared family data on Rootsweb.com/
