Text: Moses... died 2-7-1894. Buried at Salem Presbyterian Church - I put his Confederate marker up on 11-29/1962, 111 one hundred and eleven days he volunteered.
Cousin Lizzie Clowney Coleman was with me, she is his niece and 83 yrs old - [signed] Cle Hall.

Note: Tall white marble tombstone is shaped like an obelisk, with Moses Clowney's inscription on the south face and that of wife Susannah Yongue Clowney on the north. An engraved oak branch with 3 leaves and 3 large acorns, indicating strength and fertility, adorns each inscription.
Have photo 0922, Oct 2002.
Most children of Moses Clowney and grandchildren by son Samuel Thomas Clowney are buried in Salem cemetery. Moses' father John Clowney and a sister, Mary Cunningham, are buried in Fairforest cemetery, just south of Union-Fairfield county line.
