F. Truesdale, were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday from First Methodist Church by her pastor, the Rev. Charles Kirkley. Interment was in the Kershaw Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were six grandsons, Bernard Truesdale Mangum, Lewis Lee Truesdale, Jr., Harry K. Truesdale, Harry H. McNair, Lloyd E. McNair, Jr., and Herbert Olin Truesdale. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Danny Blackwell, Dr. W. L. McDow, Frank Thomas, W. F. Heustess, Bill Hilton, William Hayes, Hazel Estridge, James McDowell, Joe Gay, E. H. Clyburn, Tommy Clyburn, H. L. Clyburn, W. W. Lane, John Graves, Bill Richards, B. D. McDonald, J. P. Richards, Jr., T. V. Hough, V. S. Hagins, R. S. Agnew, James E. Green, Lewis R. Clyburn, H. L. McPherson, Sr., and D. M. Gibbons. Mrs. Truesdale died Sunday morning, December 1, at her home on S. Matson St. Her age was 78. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late L. J. and Mary Threatt Jordan. She was a loyal member of First Methodist Church and a former member of the Ladies Sunday School class and the Woman's Society of Christian Service. The mother of a large family, her happiest moments came when her home was filled with children and grandchildren. Until illness prevented, she also enjoyed visiting the children at their various homes. Possessed of a cheerful and kind disposition, "Miss Hattie" as she was affectionately known, was beloved by a wide circle of friends and the many floral tributes at the funeral attested to the esteem in which she was held. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. W. S. Beckham and Mrs. B. A. Mangum, both of Rock Hill, Mrs. Lloyd E. McNair Sr. of North Augusta, Mrs. Joe Brooks of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. W. H. Clyburn of Kershaw; four sons, Olin W. Truesdale of Columbia, L. L. Truesdale Sr. of Camden, Harry Truesdale of Kershaw, William Lloyd Truesdale of Orangeburg; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. C. R. Blackmon of Kershaw, Mrs. Bill Horton of Camden, and Mrs. Chalmers Young of Columbia; three brothers Arthur Jordan, Roy Jordan, and C. W. Jordan, all of Kershaw. |
