Funeral services for C. P. "Bob" Gantt, Sr., 64, who died suddenly at midnight last Thursday evening at his home in Batesburg, were conducted at 4 o'clock last Friday afternoon from the graveside in Wagener Cemetery by the Rev. Leo D. Gillespie of Batesburg, assisted by the Rev. T. L. Bryson and the Rev. W. H. Benjamin of Wagener.
A prominent farmer of Aiken County and a native of Wagener, he was the son of the late Geddings E. Gantt and Mrs. Sallie C. Gantt of Wagener. He was a member of the Wagener Methodist Church and moved to Batesburg a few years ago.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Susie Shull Gantt of Batesburg, one son C. Pope Gantt Jr. of Batesburg; a sister Mrs. Carl Gunter of Columbia; one brother Caperus Gantt of near Batesburg; and two grandsons, Bobby Gantt and John Robert Gantt, both of Batesburg.
