Text: John Spratt Clowney was a farmer, bought and sold cows for a living. They lived in the western part of Fairfield County. He lived at Strother, South Carolina, in the house at Broad River near the bridge. Grandma lived near Old Stevenson House near the Dr. Clark place up Bolick Road. The house was a large house made with pegs. Grandpa moved back up there and Grandma left him and moved nearer to Winnsboro, South Carolina, with the children. She bought some land about four miles out of Winnsboro, South Carolina. It was a house in a hollow with a big holly tree in front yard, near a spring, Meadow Lou Lane off of the Newberry Road, Highway 34 across from where my sister, Lenora Baker Clowney Porter had built a house.

Grandpa John Spratt Clowney is buried in Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery, Fairfield County and Grandma, Alice Jane Brice Clowney, is buried in Lebanon Presbyterian Church cemetery, Fairfield County. They had (11) eleven children.
